Internal News via RSS
You can subscribe to RU’s internal news in RSS format. With RSS, you will receive a direct message as soon as news is published in the Internal News. These are the news items that are collected in the internal newsletter on Fridays.
In order to read RSS feeds, you must either have Windows Vista, MacOSX version 10.5 or a news server program, a so-called feedreader, installed. Free news readers are available for all operating systems. For example, you can use FeedReader with Windows XP.
Windows Vista
Go to the page Internal news and click the orange RSS icon in the top of the page.
Click Subscribe to this feed and then the Subscribe button to subscribe to RUC's internal news.
When you have subscribed to the feed, the news will be shown in the gadjets menu to the right on your desktop.
Windows XP
In Windows XP you can download the newsreader FeedReader. Select New feed on the File menu and type the feed address rucnews.ruc.dk/rss/en and click OK. Afterwards, the Feedreader program will automatically open with RU's Internal news, when you start your computer.
Feedreader uses as default an update period called Intelliupdate that adapts to the feeds updating frequency based on how often news comes from it. To change the update period, rightclick the feed name in the left window (RUC - Internal news) an select Edit feed. In the field Update period Intellupdate is the default value. Click to change to 10 minutter, 15 minutter etc. Basically, Intelliupdate is designed not to overload the feed-server. It is very aggressive to ask every minute. We recommend 10 minutes as a minimum.
MacOSX 10.5 or later
In MacOSX 10.5, you can configure the Mail programme to read RSS-feeds. Select Preferences on the menu Mail and click on RSS on top. Here you can select how often to check for updates.
To subscribe to the feed, select Add RSS Feeds on the menu File. Then select Specify a custom feed URL and write rucnews.ruc.dk/rss/en in the field. If you wish to have the news displayed in your Inbox, place a check mark at Show in Inbox.
MacOSX 10.4
In MacOSX 10.4, you can put the RSS-feed into your Screen Saver.
First add the feed's address rucnews.ruc.dk/rss/en as a bookmark in your default browser (in Safari, the menu Bookmark, Add bookmark).
Then open System Preferences from the Apple menu and select Desktop and Screen Saver.
Click the tab Screen Saver and select RSS Visualizer. Click on Options and select RU – Internal Ne
MacOSX - earlier versions
In earlier versions of MacOSX, you must download the news-reader Vienna via this link: http://vienna-rss.sourceforge.net/vienna2.php
Select New subscription on the menu File and enter the following URL and click on Subscribe.
An other possibility is to use Safari and save the URL as a bokmark (Add bookmark on the Bookmarks menu).
