RU to collaborate with the University of Greenland
Based on a new collaboration agreement between Roskilde University (RU) and the University of Greenland (Illisimatursarfik), RU is building a research bridge to Greenland.
The collaboration is intended to contribute to the current and future professional development and knowledge sharing of the two universities within the fields of research and education.
About the background for the collaboration, Ib Poulsen, Rector at RU, says:
“Both RU and the University of Greenland wish to strengthen the professionalism and our relations to other research environments. Traditionally, RU is an innovative, open university, and it is our objective to develop both future education and research, which must continue to be relevant and of a high professional quality. Through this new agreement we facilitate new opportunities and collaboration platforms which can hopefully raise the quality of both Danish and Greenlandic research”.
The agreement stipulates that specific collaboration platforms must be established within the fields of research and education. It is the intention to exploit both institutions’ didactic and educational strengths in a central collaboration across study programmes and research and development projects.
A coordination group consisting of representatives of the University of Greenland and representatives of RU has been set up to ensure that agreements signed are coordinated. Rector of the University of Greenland, Tine Pars, and Rector of RU, Ib Poulsen, constitute the chairmanship of the coordination group.
The collaboration agreement will run until the end of 2013.
