Questions about the anti-virus program
If an anti-virus program is already installed on the computer and you wish to install the free program from RU, it is important that you uninstall the existing program before you install the new one. If you let the existing anti-virus program remain installed, it may create conflicts in the system.
If you are not sure whether there is an anti-virus program already installed on your computer, you can examine the list of programs in the Start menu and look for an anti-virus program. Many computers come with a trial version of a popular anti-virus program like, for example, McAfee, Symantec or Norton. See the list of the most common anti-virus programs below. The fact that the program is installed does not guarantee that it is 'activated' or that it is updated regularly.
An anti-virus program that is not updated regularly is not effective. The free version of McAfee for home use should be updated regularly in order to provide protection against the latest threats. To ensure that the anti-virus program is updated, you should open McAfee Security Center. Under My Security Index, your anti-virus index should be green.
