About the department
The Department of Environmental, Social and Spatial Change (ENSPAC) works with the planning of the integrated human, environmental and geographical organization of modern societies. We are working across social science, natural science, technical science and humanities.
Our strength areas are

- Climate Change Adaption and Mitigation
- Biological Production
We are also developing Roskilde University’s priority areas
Each of these areas has their specific interdisciplinary and experimental approaches to focus on vital connections across environmental, social and spatial change. We are interested in human everyday life, in natural, social and technological systems, and how they work together through sustainability, design and planning.

ENSPAC provides undergraduate and graduate programs with in Environmental Biology, Environmental Planning (TekSam), Environmental Risk, Geography, Health Promotion, Planning Studies, and Working Life Studies. In addition, a Tourist Guide Diploma Program and other further education programs, as well as two Doctoral Schools in Environmental Stress Studies (GESS) and in Society, Space and Technology (SST).
