The area of strength Biological Production is based on the research group Environmental Dynamics which is focusing interdisciplinary on environmental biology, physical geography and hydrology with a specific focus on water environments.

In strategic terms, the research is aimed at biological production in continuation of several on-going projects on development of living feed (copepod) for aquaculture (the IMPAQ project), production of alga biomass, and biological transformation of organic waste. The research is also aimed at environmental consequences in connection with agriculture and other contamination sources; and climate changes in watercourses (ecosystem hydrology). Besides that research is made within environmental risk assessments of chemicals (eco toxicology). The research group also participate in various international research projects, some EU financed.

This research area is also associated with Region Zeeland and with companies within and outside the region.
