There is a long research tradition behind the programme Working Life Studies, such as physiology and health, technology and production planning, psychology and sociology etc. In recent years a social interest in integrating these different element of each field to strengthen the work and integration at to secure continuous qualifications and to avoid expulsion for health reasons. The fact is that in resent years an effort has been made from the employer side to strengthen quality of the working environment and working life.

The working environment is no longer a defined and confined activity of the company, but the quality of the working environment and the working life has been an essential aspect by most activities of the companies such as management, personnel policy, planning of production and work, social responsibility, innovation, competency development ect. etc.

The programme Working Life Studies at RU is strengthening the quality of the activiteis in this area and will make the position of RU more visible to the rest of the world. However it must be made clear that the unique about the programme Working Life Studies is that it can be combined with other programmes with aspects of health and quality of life and also the development of organization, competence, management and innovation of various companies.
