The new M.Sc. in Environmental Risk has started!
September the 3rd twenty-two students started at RUC’s new interdisciplinary and integrated international master program Environmental Risk.
The group of students is a mix of Danish students from RUC and Copenhagen University, as well as foreign students from Spain, Latvia, Tanzania, and Zambia. The new students thus have different background studies, but share an academic profile containing environmental studies. Today they were welcomed (with breakfast) and introduced to program and teachers by the Head of the Study, Gary Banta. A little later in the day the Vice Chancellor Hanne Leth stopped by to say hello and welcome.
Throughout the next two years the students will be studying subjects such as Environmental Risk Assessment, Natural hazards, Spatial Analysis and Environmental regulation at the Department of Environmental, Social and Spatial Change, ENSPAC, thereby acquiring a master degree with focus on the natural science approach towards environmental problems, but also learning how science is put into practice when managing environmental risks.
Both students and teachers are very excited about the launching of the program which has been several years in the making!
