Student at EMGS
As an EMGS student at RU your study curriculum is closely linked to the Global Studies master Programme at Roskilde. Thus you will follow most lectures and do project work with both your fellow EMGS students and other students studying Global Studies.
Global Studies at RU is built up around threes Themes:
- Global Politics, Global Governance, Regionalisation and State Sovereignty
- Political Culture, Civil Society, Social Movements and Globalisation
- Global Political Economics - the Globalisation of Goods, "Bads" and Welfare
The Mandatory Courses (Theeme Course) of each module of the curriculum will be fixed within the area of one of the themes.

Getting started as a Student at EMGS at RU
Before you arrive in Roskilde you will probably want to know a litte about being in Denmark and studying at RUC. In the handbook "Getting Started - a guide for Degree and Exchange Students" you will find useful information about being a student at RU as well as daily life in Denmark. You will receive a link to the handbook with your admittance letter from RUC and you find it here
As you will see in the handbook you are strongly recommended to participate in the Foundation Course which takes place during the last part of August. Here you will get acquainted with other international students and get an introduction to RU. See more information here

The Courses and the Lecture Plan
In some of the study activities in your curriculum you have a choise between several courses:
- Complementary Seminar: You may choose freely between the complementary seminars offered for Global Studies.
- Methodology Course: you may choose freely between the methodology courses offered for Global Studies.

The Study Secretary
An important person for students is the Study Secretary. The study secretary for EMGS is Connie Jakobsen, conja(at)ruc.dk. She can help you with technical matters concerning your study eg. register for courses, questions about examination etc.
You find Connie in the departmental study administration in Building 24.2. Opening hours is weekdays from 8.30-12.00.
