About the department of Psychology and Educational Studies

At Department of Psychology and Educational Studies researchers and students work with projects at the intersection between the Humanities and social science. A broad range of approaches are used at the department to study various subjects within psychology and educational studies, including perspectives and methods from anthropology, sociology, philosophy, biology, and history.

An aim with Department of Psychology and Educational Studies is to take advantage of the synergy created by the common interface of the two disciplines while still sustaining their specific academic profiles.

The academic staff at the department performs research, teaching, and communicational tasks, and has an extensive cooperation with public and educational institutions and companies about knowledge sharing and competency development. In accordance with Roskilde University’s generally stated objectives interdisciplinary cooperation and approaches are a first priority at the department.

Great importance is attached to academic and societal relevance in the design of both education and research of the department. Furthermore, a stated objective which is considered to be of vital importance is to promote the development of problem- and project-oriented forms of education which upholds a critical approach in the students’ work.

The academic staff at the department develops knowledge which aims at establishing the conditions required to increase welfare, wealth, and social sustainability. .
