Evernote

Where do you save your notes or clippings from web pages? Wouldn't it be cool to be able to search in handwritten notes? Why don't you use your computer as a dictaphone? Evernote is a free program for organising your notes regardless of these are in the form of text, pictures, video or sound - and in addition you will be able to share them with others and syncronise them between all your computers (and your smartphone).

You recognise the situation. You read an article on the internet and want to save it. What do you do? Save the address with your bookmarks, print the article and throw it in the bag, copy and paste the text into Workd and save the file in a folder with a title that means something to you at that point, send yourself an email with the brilliant subject "Remember, you have read an article in XXX today"...?

If you instead use Evernote, the solution would be to right click somewhere in the article and choose 'Save in Evernote' and then you will have the entire article in Evernote, where you can add comments and keywords, and additionally you will be able to search within it.

In the same way you can save pictures, video and audio files and make these searchable with keywords. You can also write textual or record audio notes in the program itself.

If you need to share some of your notes, in Evernote you can email them to colleagues or fellow students. Last but not least it is not necessary to be near a specific computer. The notes you have saved on one computer will automatically syncronise with every other machine with Evernote installed.
