Social entrepreneurship and social innovation
Entrepreneurship and innovation are the driving forces in all sectors of society. The workshop looks in depth at how social entrepreneurship and social innovation occur and manifest themselves at the juncture between familiar sectors and forms of organization. Social entrepreneurship occurs both as the response of indignant individuals and organizations to some of thee problems and challenges facing the welfare society, as a developing trait in both the public and voluntary sectors as a consequence of enterprises' need to develop strategies for social responsibility.
The workshop begins with an introduction that focuses on different interpretive frameworks for social entrepreneurship and social innovation in a modern knowledge and network society. Recent research in co-production, social capital and network theory are incorporated and, based on real experiences, we discuss how European, American, Asian and Latin American approaches to social entrepreneurship differ in a number of key areas.
A secondary objective of the workshop is to allow participants to explore how social entrepreneurship and social innovation can serve as elements in their own research and educational practice. The workshop will therefore be characterized by a high level of participant activity.
