Introduction to the assistant professor programme
The introductory course to the assistant professor programme is the "entrance" to the rest of the programme. This course must therefore be completed before participating in the other courses. It should be noted that the course is reserved for assistant professors.
The course introduces the assistant professor programme and is the first component in the education programme, its content, intentions, and the relationship between the individual elements of the programme. This course is expected to be completed before participation in the other courses. The course presents some of the links between learning and practice, with particular focus on how the participants' own practices and own experience can form the basis for the individual's assistant professor training. Various forms of supervision are presented, and working groups are established, which are expected to work together throughout the assistant professor programme.
The practical dimensions of the course are introduced, including the relationship between the assistant professor supervisor and the assistant professor, the various assignments included in the programme, expectations and responsibilities, the assistant professor's final assignment: Portfolio.
The entire assistant professor programme takes approx. 180 hours.
The following 2 texts are expected to be read before the course:
- Søren Kruse, Danish University of Education at Aarhus University:
"Development of university teachers' pedagogical skills - a didactic outline". The article should be downloaded from the internet by the programme's participants from the following address: http://www.dun-net.dk/tidsskrifter/dut2. This is the magazine of the Danish University Pedagogy Network (Dansk Universitetspædagogisk Netværk: DUT), specifically No. 2 of 2006. Here you will find the text by Søren Kruse as a PDF file. - Chris Argyris: "Teaching Smart People How to Learn"
We will send the article to you before the start of the course.
