If answers to your questions cannot be found here, please feel free to contact the Study and Careers Service.

How do I apply for admission to the Master's programmes?

  • If you complete your Bachelor's degree this summer, you can apply for admission through the general course enrolment service (identity card renewal service) at Portalino not later than 1 April.
  • If you complete your Bachelor's degree next winter, you can apply for admission through the general course enrolment service (identity card renewal service) at Portalino not later than 1 November.
  • If previously, you have completed an RUC Bachelor's programme and now wish to apply for admission to a Master's programme at RU, you must apply for admission using the application form found here.
  • If you have a Bachelor's degree from a different educational institution, you should apply for admission using the application form found here.

Do not forget to meet the application deadlines: 1 April at 12.00 p.m. for entry in September and 1 November at 12.00 p.m. for entry in February.

When is the deadline for admission to the Master's programmes at RUC?

  • No later than 1 April at 12.00 p.m. for entry in the autumn semester
  • No later than 1 November at 12.00 p.m. for entry in the spring semester

What happens if I apply too late?

1. If you complete your RUC Bachelor's degree this summer and you apply later than 1 April, or you earn your Bachelor's degree this winter and apply later than 1 November this year, admission is no longer guaranteed. It means you can only be admitted, if:

  • There are no restrictions on the number of places for the subjects you apply for.
  • You apply for the subjects corresponding to those of your Bachelor's degree.
  • Your application can be processed before programme commencement.

2. If you have previously completed a Bachelor's degree from RUC and you are now applying for admission to a Master's programme, admission is not possible, if you do not meet the application deadline.

3. If you have earned a Bachelor's degree from another educational institution, admission to a Master's programme is not possible, if you do not meet the application deadline.

How do I apply if I want to change subject on the Master's programme?

If you wish to be admitted to a Master's programme with a different subject combination than that of your Bachelor's degree, you must apply for admission through the course enrolment (student identity card renewal) at Portalino.

If you meet the application deadline, you have the possibility, but not the right, to be admitted. If you are not admitted to the requested programme to study the new subject combination, a place is reserved for you to study the same subject combination on your Master's programme as that of your Bachelor's degree.

How do I apply if I have commenced the Master's programme and wish to change subject?

If you have commenced a Master's programme and wish to change subject, you must apply for admission through the course enrolment (student identity card renewal) at Portalino.

If you meet the application deadline, you have the possibility, but not the right, to be admitted. If you are not admitted to the requested programme to study the new subject combination, you may continue your studies at your current Master's programme.

What if I (also) want to apply for admission at another university?

Then you should apply for admission to the universities you wish to study at, using their application procedures. The application deadlines for the Master's programmes are now the same for all universities:

  • 1 April at 12.00 p.m. for entry in the autumn semester. A reply to your application is guaranteed not later than 15 June.
  • 1 November at 12.00 p.m. for entry in the spring semester. A reply to your application is guaranteed not later than 20 December.

Having received a reply, you should choose the programme you wish to enrol in and remember to deregister from other programmes - you can only be enrolled in one programme.

If you complete your Bachelor's degree at RUC this year, you are guaranteed a place at the RUC Master's programme with the same subject combination as your Bachelor's degree provided you go straight to the Master's programme after completion of your Bachelor's degree and meet the application deadline. For this reason, it would be a good idea to apply for admission to that exact Master's programme, if you want to secure yourself a place. Remember to deregister if you choose to accept a place in a different Master's programme.

What if I would like to take leave and (maybe) resume my studies at RUC at a later stage?

If you do not continue your studies at a Master's programme immediately after completion of your Bachelor's degree, you are no longer guaranteed a place in a Master's programme.

You may still be admitted to a Master's programme at a later stage according to the same rules as those applying to external full degree undergraduates. The only requirement is that you fulfil the admission requirements for the subjects you apply for and that places are available. Currently, most subjects at RUC have no restrictions on the number of places at the Master's modules.

If at a later stage you wish to enrol in a Master's programme, you must apply for admission using the application form at ruc.dk/admission - "full degree graduate".
