Terms of Payment

Students from countries outside EU/EEA are according to Danish legislation required to pay tuition fees at Danish universities unless they hold a permanent residence permit for Denmark or a temporary residence permit with the possibility of permanent stay, cf. the Ministerial Order No. 1373 of 10/12/2007.

1. These terms of payment apply to the abovementioned fee-paying full degree students at bachelor and master level.

2. New students are required to pay the fee for the first two semesters and subsequently for a semester at a time. The invoice for new students will be delivered with the acceptance letter, and must be paid no later than August 1 for the autumn semester and January 1 for the spring semester. If the fee is not paid by this date, the admission will be annulled. Please note that the fee cannot be paid in instalments.

3. Students who are already enrolled at Roskilde University will receive an invoice before each semester, which must be paid within 14 days. If the University has not received the payment of the tuition fee before semester start, i.e. September 1 for the autumn semester and February 1 for the spring semester, the student will be disenrolled from Roskilde University. The payment for each semester is a condition of the student’s enrolment at Roskilde University. If the student’s enrolment remains annulled we are obliged to inform the Immigration Service about this, and the student will risk losing his/her residence permit.

4. If the programme is not completed within the prescribed period of study, the student is required to pay full tuition fee for the subsequent semester(s). This includes students who are writing their master’s thesis, if the submission deadline exceeds the prescribed period of study.

5. The fees will not be refunded after the beginning of a semester (September 1 and February 1). This applies to new students who have paid tuition for two semesters, and for students who are enrolled at RU and have paid tuition for one semester. Exceptions from this rule can only occur in exceptional circumstances that prevent the student from commencing the study programme, such as lack of residence permit, serious illness, national service and pregnancy. Written documentation must be produced before reimbursement can take place.
