Quota 2

Quota 2 is partly for applicants who wish to be assessed on the basis of qualifications beyond their grade point average. When assessing quota 2 applications, emphasis is given to your academic background as well as to your work experience and activities, and your motivated application should comprise your complete background. Usually, any supplementary activities should take place following completion of the qualifying examination.

Quota 2 is also for applicants who do not fulfil the general requirement of a qualifying examination. Alternatively, it is possible to apply for admission on an alternative admission basis, namely application for exemption-based admission. For further information, click here >.

Quota 2 – admission based on qualifications beyond the grade point average

Quota 1 applicants (fulfilling the general requirements and specific requirements) are assessed solely on the basis of their grade point average obtained at upper-secondary school level.

If you are not certain that your grade point average is sufficiently high for you to be admitted through quota 1, you may apply through quota 2. It is a requirement that:

  1. You fulfil the general requirements and specific requirements for the programme you wish to enrol in.
  2. As a minimum, you have one supplementary activitiy such as academic and/or general qualifications beyond your qualifying examination.
  3. You submit a motivated application

Assessment criteria

Admission is based on an overall assessment of the qualifications relevant to the programme in question which you may have acquired in addition to your qualifying examination and which RUC deems relevant to the bachelor study programme you wish to enrol in.

To be assessed in quota 2, it is required that you have at least one relevant activity in addition to your qualifying examination, and you should also submit a motivated application. When assessing quota 2 applications, emphasis is given to the motivated application and activities in the following areas:

  • Upper secondary school level subjects
  • Higher education
  • Work experience
  • Folk high school education
  • Stay abroad
  • Unpaid voluntary work and/or unpaid organisational work

When assessing each activity, it is considered whether it is relevant to the programme you wish to enrol in. In respect of the motivated application, the relevance of the applicant's activities as a whole to the programme applied to and the applicant's motives and reasons for wanting to enrol in the relevant programme are taken into consideration. Against this background, the motivated application is of great importance to the final selection of applicants.

Different criteria apply to the individual bachelor study programmes and they form the basis, on which the assessment of the quota 2 applicants is made. The assessment is subject to prioritisation, and the quota 2 student places are granted to the applicants given the highest priority. There are often more applicants than places which means that applicants may be turned away even though they are qualified. In the following, you can read more about the individual bachelor study programme assessment criteria.

Motivated application

It is required that you attach a motivated application to RUC to your online application, using the link: optagelse.dk. It is important that your motivated application is prepared like a job application. It should not be a neutral list with no life and career highlights. Find good advice on how to write your motivated application and what it should contain here. You may attach your CV, giving a list of relevant activities you include in your motivated application.

NB: The motivational application for the international bachelor study programmes should be written in English. If you want to apply for bachelor study programmes taught in Danish, the motivational application should be written in Danish.

The 12-month rule and documentation requirements

You must list all the activities you include in your motivated application (preferably in a CV attached to your application). The assessment will only be based on the activities performed within a total period of 12 months. You should not select these months yourself as this will be done in connection with the assessment of your application.

Remember to attach documentation supporting any educational activities. Do not submit documentation supporting other activities unless requested to do so.

The motivated application and any documentation supporting education activities completed by the application deadline, 15 March, must be attached to your quota 2 application submitted via www.optagelse.dk.

If you complete education activities after the application deadline which are relevant to your motivated application, this must be stated in your application and any relevant documentation must be uploaded as soon as the activity has been completed.

If you are required to attend a supplementary course/summer supplementary course in order to meet the admission requirements, remember to state this in your application form and submit a copy of your course certificate to RUC as soon as possible before programme commencement and not later than on 1 September.

The application for admission through quota 2 must contain:

You are to upload the required documentation to your online application at www.optagelse.dk

Please note that if you apply for quota 2 admission on the basis of other activities, your application will automatically be considered in quota 1 first. Do therefore not submit a new quota 1 application if you have already applied for quota 2 admission.

Non EU/EEA citizens who need a student resident permit to study in Denmark must apply through quota 3.
