Program structure and content
The Bachelor programme in Natural Sciences is a complete programme building upon the academic qualifications required for admitting students. The purpose of the Bachelor programme is to secure academic continuity and progression. The Bachelor programme is designed to allow students to continue their education with several possible Master programmes, or to complete their education with professional qualifications from the Bachelor Programme.
The Bachelor programme in Natural Sciences is a full-time interdisciplinary study and it corresponds to 180 ECTS points, 3 years. It consists of a basic part corresponding to 85 ECTS points, two subject modules corresponding to a total of 70 ECTS points, optional courses corresponding to a total of 10 ECTS points and a Bachelor project corresponding to 15 ECTS points.
Students completing the Bachelor programme in Natural Sciences are entitled to the Bachelor of Science (BSc) title (with specification) followed by the specific names of the subjects.
In the first 1½ years (three semesters), students will learn basic methods of how to examine the nature with experiments, analyzes and models. This will be achieved with courses and project work integrated in specific semester themes. Some courses are optional, others are mandatory.
The last 1½ years you will specialize in two equal bachelor disciplines. One of the subjects must be in natural science. The other subject can be chosen from any of the RU's international bachelor disciplines - natural science, humanities, social sciences and humanities and technology. You can find a list of all available international disciplines here.
Note: Students are required to select their first subject by the end of 3rd semester. The 2nd subject must be chosen by the end of 4th semester. Students are allowed to take courses in their planned subjects during 3rd semester. If a student decides to go with a subject other than the Subject 1 / Subject 2 course he took during the 3rd semester, he can do so freely. The taken course will count as an optional course and he will take a subject course during the 5th or 6th semester in spot of the optional courses.
