The scientific study of businesses revolves around seing them as social and organisational systems in which behaviour is conditioned by economics.
All elements of af business is relevant to the unterstanding of that business. This counts for both internal relations and external relations to the organisational context. On Business Studies you work with analysis of a number of different issues around the business' use of human, economical and natural ressources. This offers several possibilities and perspectives to the study of the business ranging from a sociological angel to a more market oriented analysis of the business and its functioning.
As a student on Business Studies you get a thorough introduction in theories and methods for understanding the specific business. On top of this you get an opportunity to specialise in different fields of business studies based on interests.
The overall goal
A combination with Business Studies aims you toward occupation in both private and public businesses and organisations as well as qualifies you for conducting research within the field. As a student you will gain a unique specialisation through the combination of thematic seminars, courses, the focus of your projects and through the choice of other subject.
This is the short list of the goals for students at Business Studies:
- To give the students insight in significant problems in the study of private and public businesses.
- To qualify the students to independently, systematicly and critically formulate, analyse and convey problems in relation to private and public businesses.
- To practise the students in applying theories concrete, and to work independently and critically with the combination of theory and practice.
- To give the students a foundation for working across traditional divisions in businesses.
