Materials Science.
• The resarch effort is focussed on preparation of new polymer materials, aerogels andhybrid materials of these.
• The materials produced find application in medicotechnic, optics, photonics in energytechnology and in surface coatings.
• In the preparation of materials we apply environmentally benign technologies including supercritical solvents and microwave reactors.
• Supercritical solvents as CO2 and water are created when the solvents are heated under pressure. In the supercritical phase the aquire new properties and these can be varied by change of pressure and temperature.
• In the study of material structures we use microscopy (optical, STM and AFM), calorimetry and spectroscopy (NMR IR UV) to optimize the the structure function relation.
• We have a close cooperation with many companies in Denmark and abroad to ensure practical applications of our work.
• An example of these activities is the development of new environmentally acceptable anti fouling boat paints presently under testing in Danish harbors.
