Courses on the subject module
The following courses are provided during the course module of Computer Science:
- Essential Computing I (ECI). This course will cover basic programming skills, knowledge about fundamental computing concepts, skills and facts and their use in a variety of application areas.
- Provided every semester, first time autumn 13.
- Modeling and Knowledge Management (MKM). This course will cover the most important computer scientific data models and methods in system development.
- Provided every semester, first time autumn 2013.
- Interactive Digital Systems (IDS). This course will cover an understanding of technical terms and use situations within interactive digital systems.
- Provided each autumn, though not in 2013.
- Essential Computing II (EC2). This course will cover theory and practice for fundamental algorithms and data structures, calculations, complexity, scaling of IT systems, and the different phases of IT system development.
- Provided each spring.
Descriptions and structure of each course will soon be available on kursus.ruc.dk.
Recommended structure
We strongly recommend that students choose their courses with these recommendations in mind:
- EC1 should be completed before starting IDS and EC2.
- MKM should be taken at the latest contemporary with the project.
- EC1 should be taken at the latest contemporary with MKM and the project.
We have constructed these following 3 structures which meet our recommendations.
For students who wish to finish the Computer science bachelor module as quickly as possible.
1st semester | 1st project | Undergraduate courses
2nd semester | 2nd project | Undergraduate courses
3rd semester | 3rd project | Other course | MKM | EC1 |
4th semester | Course Module Project: Computer Science | EC2 | Other course | Other course |
5th semester | Course Module Project: Other subject | IDS | Other course | Other course |
6th semester | Dissertation | Other course | Other course | Other course |
For students who wish to study Computer Science primarily during the 4th semester.
1st semester | 1st project | Undergraduate courses
2nd semester | 2nd project | Undergraduate courses
3rd semester | 3rd project | Other course | Other course | Other course |
4th semester | Course Module Project: Computer Science | MKM | EC1 | Other course |
5th semester | Course Module Project: Other subject | IDS | Other course | Other course |
6th semester | Dissertation | EC2 | Other course | Other course |
For students who wish to study Computer Science primarily during the 5th semester.
1st semester | 1st project | Undergraduate courses
2nd semester | 2nd project | Undergraduate courses
3rd semester | 3rd project | EC1 | Other course | Other course |
4th semester | Course Module Project: Other subject | Other course | Other course | Other course |
5th semester | Course Module Project: Computer Science | MKM | IDS | Other course |
6th semester | Dissertation | EC2 | Other course | Other course |
Explanatory comments: Other course could be a course module course or an undergraduate course - this depends on the structure of the student’s bachelor degree.
