In spite of mutual biological underlying basis, these two subjects are very different in their entry to Biology. Nevertheless the molecular biological methods and techniques apply within the modern Environmental Biology. For instance genetic technology is used increasingly when illustrating population ecological issues. This combination can be very favourable for students who aim at a career within research.
