Module 1: Social Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprise and Social Responsibility
The objective of the module is to provide the student with theoretical insight into the field of social entrepreneurship, social enterprise and social responsibility in a global and local perspective. Focus will be on main concepts, definitions and complexity in contextual and institutional perspectives whereby students are encouraged to undestand the main trends as well as regional differences and similarities. The dual caracteristics of serving social and economic goals situate social entrepreneurial initiatives with several challenges. Social entrepreneurship is often related to hybrid organisations caracterised by multiple purposes and resources and a lack of financial capital, but partnerships and to some extend commercial based business models are also employed. It is expected that students can critically analyse and discuss relevant theories and empirical data within these subjects. Finally, the module provides and overview of theories and cases on how corporate ethics and responsibility influences and contextualises strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The module encompasses a theory course ( Theories of Social Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprise and Social Responsibility; 5 ECTS), a seminar course (Seminar in Contemporary Social Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprise and Social Responsibility; 5 ECTS), a methodological course (Project Work Methodology; 5 ECTS) and a project (Project; 15 ECTS).
