Enrolment in courses and projects etc.
Changes in the rules and examination scheme at RU are important for the execution of courses and projects for the coming semester. It is therefore important that you all know the changes:
Deadlines and examination periods
The secretariat for university graduates at ENSPAC have made a website for the students where information about submission deadlines, examination periods etc. will appear:
http://www.ruc.dk/en/departments/department-of-environmental-social-and-spatial-change/the-secretariat-for-university-graduates-at-enspac/information-about-courses-and-projects/#c62105
Group examination
Longer-term the group examination is to be introduced as examination form at the project examinations. As the group examination is not added to the study programme at present, the students can only sit for a group examination if the group has made an application to the study board.
A serious examination attempt
The lawyers at RU have strongly emphasized that the students are only allowed to be re-examinated within the same semester, if a serious examination attempt has been made at the regular examination. If one of the students has handed in a blank assignment, no serious examination attempt has been made and the student cannot sit for a reexamination in the same semester. (If the student can prove that he/she was ill, the student can sit for a re-examination).
As examiner it is important to distinguish between whether the student have not passed or have failed to appear. If the student has made a paper which is graded to fail, but the student has made a serious attempt to pass, the paper will be graded “not passed”. If the student has not made a serious attempt to pass, the paper will be graded “failed to appear”.
It cannot be ruled out that in some cases it is difficult to assess whether we are talking about a serious attempt or not. When all comes to all, it is a decision for the examiner to make.
Project work must take place in groups
A change of the common rules means that all kinds of project work must take place in groups. Only in special cases the head of study can allow that a student makes a project alone. The application must be sent to the secretariat for university graduates at ENSPAC. Writing of the thesis usually takes place in groups, but here the student has the right to work alone.
Questions
If you have questions to the above, you are welcome to contact the Student counselor Allan Jakobsen or the secretaries at the secretariat for university graduates at ENSPAC.
