Programme elements

The Graduate School comprises more than 30 research fellows supported partly by the university or funded by external partners and others are professionals, partly funded by workplaces, or self financed. Researchers of various nationalities are graduate students in Roskilde and each semester young researchers from a number of international universities visit the graduate school.

In-house activity comprises an annual introductory seminar series on theory and methodology of research into lifelong learning, and seminars on central research themes as well as a number of independent study circles and study groups. Supervision of individual projects is distributed among the senior staff, but collective study work plays a significant role.

Students are continuously organized in thematic ‘clusters’, in which a major part of formal activities is planned and a good deal of discussion takes place. Each cluster includes a couple of senior staff and have the opportunity also to attach to research groups in the wider department. For the moment three clusters are active, in principle however this construction is changeable. Visiting professors and post doc's offer international intensive courses, and also offer individual supervision and guidance in their fields.
