The cluster addresses central concerns formulated in the second subtheme of the Global Dynamics programme, 'Dynamics of fragility and struggles over public authority'. The objective of the cluster is to contribute to a more refined analytics and understanding of political fragility within contemporary states and societies in the global South.

Pooling scholars with different area expertise and disciplinary backgrounds, the proposed cluster will create synergies among RUC faculty, add value to existing research initiatives on state formation, civil societies, religion and secularism, and international mobilisation, and increase the international and domestic profile of Roskilde University within this field.
