Maltes forelæsning er baseret på hans speciale på Plan, By og Proces og handler  om hvordan et lokalområde sammen med to universiteter i Brasilien lavede en alternativ byudviklingplan. Baggrunden var, at bystyret have foreslået totalsanering af bydelen i forbindelse med det forestående OL i Rio.


Community Planning as Resistance to Forced Removals, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This lecture investigates community planning in the context of mega events and forced removals, specifically in relation to the Olympic Games in 2016 in Rio. Malte will argue that community planning can be a powerful political strategy for localized action. However, it is also highlighted that the planning proces is often non-linear, conflictual and ambigous. Furthermore, the presentation will include a practical assessment of community mapping as a method for empowerment and knowledge creation.

Malte arbejder som gymnasielærer og skriver i øjeblikket på en lærebog om bysociologi.
