Health promotion in psychiatric work, Region Zealand

Project objectives:
That the individual employee, through a health interview, prepares an action plan in relation to his/her health, practices his/her ability to solve problems, and forms networks and strengthens faith in his/her abilities to accomplish a specific behaviour and achieve a particular goal, with the particular aim of improving and maintaining his/her own health. The employees’ own motivation for working with their health is underpinned by activities in and outside the workplace with support from the workplace.

The project's objectives and success criteria:
To test and implement the method 'You decide', in order to promote the health behaviour of the individual with support from the workplace.
That employees remain in work and are not excluded from the labour market due to debilitation and lifestyle - through creation of action competences and networks through health talks and concrete actions at the workplace, e.g. assignment of other tasks and / or modifications of the work organization.

That employees’ absenteeism is reduced - through increased competence to act in relation to their own health, as well as concrete actions in the workplace, e.g. assignment of other tasks and / or modifications of the work organization, and through support for changes in health behaviour at the workplace.

That employees bring their health and lifestyle into focus, in order to achieve greater job satisfaction, and wellbeing – through the health interview process.

That employees with ill health e.g. due to physical debilitation, and staff at risk of ill health e.g. due to their lifestyle, will focus on their opportunities - in cooperation with the workplace -  to improve their health and prevent the risks of deterioration of their health, through the health interviews and derived activities.
The Centre for Working Environment and Working Life is examining the context within which the intervention is taking place, including other changes that are likely to influence the intervention outcome. The goal is to understand and explain the dynamics and progression of the health promotion initiative, in order to contribute to a more qualified health effort in psychiatric work in Region Zealand in the future.
