The work at the research centre aims at

• creating critical dialogical knowledge qualifying professional competency and professional work
• applying and communicating current knowledge about welfare work
• challenging and qualifying processes which underpin a more participation oriented and knowledge-based welfare development

VELPRO establishes learning and development oriented cooperations between research environments at Roskilde University and agents in the practice field. The mutual involvement makes it possible for VELPRO’s researchers to include the agents of the practice field in the process of formulating research questions as well as designing the research project. We aim at making research projects which follow the ‘task’, the user, and/or the professional in welfare institutions.

VELPRO collaborates with university colleges and professional and public institutions on making practice-oriented knowledge development and qualification.

Through designing and coordinating participatory workshops a.o. VELPRO’s researchers contribute to development work and a number of projects which are related to e.g. the challenges which university colleges are facing regarding knowledge production and education.
