Gæsteforelæsning v. Professor Jody Miller, School of Criminal Justice, Rutgers University (US)
Jody Miller's research examines how inequalities of gender, race & class shape young women's participation in crime and risks for victimization.
The lecture adresses how gender - as one of the most basic features of social organization - configures individuals' life experiences in ways that lead them to crime, and influences their motivations for offending, strategies for accomplishing it, and the situations and contexts in which this offending takes place. But how do we go about investigating gender and crime? Through a discussion of her own research strategies, which include the use of qualitative data, Jody Miller explores how such research can be put to use for understanding the relationships between gender, inequality, and crime.
