A PhD programme entails many challenges, both professional and personal. The ENSPAC PhD Network is an interdisciplinary forum that gives the PhD students at the institute the opportunity to meet each other and share their experiences as PhDs. The Network aims to be a forum where ENSPACs early-career researchers meet to discuss professional matters and to socialize in the company of other like-minded scientists. 

With around 50 PhD students at ENSPAC, there is a good basis for a strong and rewarding Network. However, networking only succeeds if everyone makes a contribution and the PhD students are running the network at their own initiative.

Tuesday Lunch

One way to support the Network and to get to know your fellow PhDs is to join the ongoing event in Network auspices, the PhD Tuesday lunch. Once per week all PhDs can participate in a lunch time meeting where all kinds of discussions take place. Since we prioritize to discuss and help each other solve issues that appear in the everyday experiences of being a PhD student, usually the meetings have no scheduled agenda. Sometimes the Tuesday lunch is used for more specific and formal activities and these events are announced beforehand by e-mail. Of course, all PhDs are welcome at anytime to bring up a subject for a more formal discussion.

As the meetings occur during lunch time, we usually bring our own lunch and enjoy it while we share experiences and information about the PhD programme or talk about this and that.

The Tuesday lunch takes place

• Every Tuesday
• From 12.00 to 13.00 hrs.
• In building 02, MOSPUS room (or outside if the weather is nice)

Other activities within the PhD Network

• Social events (e.g. PhD Christmas and Easter lunches, Friday cafés)
• The PhD Buddy programme
• Planning of information meetings or lectures of relevance to the PhDs
• Coordinating proposals of interest to the PhD group for boards and councils
