Wednesday the 2nd of May 2012 at 13.00 – 16.00, room 44-2.43
Abstract
The dissertation studied services strategies in facilities management. Facilities management is the business of space. The culture of living and working is undergoing social and technological changes. The built environments for living and working are becoming more fluid to meet changing work and business conditions. IT technology and its implications on physical and virtual infrastructure are essential for productivity and business success. This PhD work has aimed at improving the understanding of how service strategies could be created and managed, and why the benefits of service strategies in FM are conditional on resources, capabilities and service delivery. The findings typify four strategies (standardization, customization, reactive and preventive). The dissertation concluded that the central requirement for long-term success in any FM application is the combination of advanced resources, capabilities and competences.
