Information about courses and projects

Procedures and rules at ENSPAC, Fall 2013

Here you can find usefull information about the courses and project process of this semester, including registration and examination.

The following is valid for Master Students and Bachelor Students who are studying according to the "old" study programme (i.e. registered on Basis 2011 or earlier).

Enrolment in courses and projects

At the beginning of the semester you are to enroll in courses and projects. When you sign up for the semester you automatically sign up for the examination. You cannot sit for an examination if you have not enrolled before the deadline.

NB!!  The course and project enrolment takes place at the individual programmes and is handled by the secretariat for university graduates at ENSPAC. The course and project enrolment must not be mixed up with the subject enrolment of the central administration.

Deadline for enrolment

Course enrolment: You can enroll from Friday 16 August - Friday 6 September at 12 PM

Project and intership enrolment: You can enroll from Sonday 15 September - Tuesday 1 October.

You register in STADS self-service

Registration: STADS self-service .

Course enrolment: You enroll in the individual couses in STADS. On some of the programmes, one or two optional courses will only be established if there are enough students.

Project- and Internship enrolment: You enroll as project group by letting only one student create the group in STADS. The other students in the group must afterwards confirm their enrolment.

For bachelor students: If your group consist of students who write a regular project and other students who write bachelor projekt, two groups most be enrolled in STADS: One group for students writing a regular project and one group for students writing a bachelor project. The title of the project must be the same for both groups.

For master students. If your group consists of students who write a project on one module (e.g. K1) and other students a project on another module (e.g. K2), two group most be enrolled in STADS: One group for each module. The title of the project must be the same for both groups.

 

The following information must be evident when you enroll:

 

'DENIED': It is normal, that STADS rapports 'Denied', when you have enrolled in a project. In this case you do not need to contact the secretary. The secretary will automacitally be aware of this, and will soon sort i out, so your project enrollment can be approved in STADS.


If you have other problems when you enroll, please contact the secretariat for university graduates at ENSPAC.

Receipt: It is a good idea to print or save a receipt of your project enrollment. The receipt is your documentation of timely enrollment.

Groupwork

The projektwork takes place in groups. The Head of Study can in special situations permit, that a student writes a project alone. You can apply for this at the secretariat.

Applying for supervisor

Ahead of the project enrolment, the project groups must apply for the assignment of a supervisor. The Head of Study makes the final grouping of supervisors for the groups.
 

Deadline for application

Deadline for applying is Tuesday 10 September.

Procedure when applying for supervisor

Notification of withdrawal from examination

If you do not want to sit for the examination of the couse or project of the semester, you must unregister from the examination. The procedure is handled in STADS self-service (se above).
 

Deadlines

Course examination: 3 days before the examinations date at the latest

Project examination: when handing in the project at the latest

If you have not met the deadline, you have used one examination attempt. You have in total 3 examinations attempts to begin with.

Handling in the project

Deadline for handing in the project

Project reports must be handed in on Monday 6 January at 1 pm at the latest.

However bachelore students on Planning Studies must hand in their project on Wednesday 18 December at 1 pm at the latest (so that the examination can take place before the field course).

Internship reports at TekSam must be handed in on Friday 31 January at 1 pm at the latest.

Evaluation of the thesis statement and method (TekSam)

Students on TekSam must have participated in the evaluation of the project statement and method as a condition for handling in the project report.

Internal evaluation (TekSam)

Students on TekSam must have participated in the internal evaluation as a condition for handling in the project report.

Description of course of study (Geography and TekSam)

Students on Geography and TekSam must ahead of the project report also hand in a description of course of study.

Geography students must hand in a description of course of study at the same time as the project report. The supervisor must approve and sign the description of course of study.

TekSam students must hand in a description of course of study (signed by the supervisor) on 9 December at 1 pm at the latest (for internship reports at TekSam on 17 January at 1 pm at the latest) to the secretariat for university graduates at ENSPAC. Afterwards the study board decides if the description can be approved.

How to hand in the project report

You must hand a copy of the project report to RUDAR (project library).

You must hand in a copy of the project report to the supervisor.

You must also hand in a copy of the project report to the secretariat of university graduates. Besides that a receipt must be given as proof that the report has been uploaded in RUDAR.

Furthermore we recommend you to hand in an extra copy of the project report which can be used for display at Open House events. This is however optional.

The project examination

The project is graded at an oral examination. At the examination the project report is taken as starting point.

Examination date

The project examination will take place in the periode from Monday 20 January – Friday 31 January.

Bachelore students on Plannings Studies will have their examination in the period from Monday 6 January – Friday 17 January.

Project examination for TekSam lies in the priod from Monday 17 February - Friday 21 February.

Group examination

If you want to sit for an oral examination as group examination, you must apply the study board for permission. You must apply 6th of December at the latest. You can contact the study board through the secretariat for university graduates.

(Group examination is obligatory for TekSam students, and they do not have to apply for persmission.)

Re-examination

Re-examination

If you have participated in a regular course or project examination and failed, you have the possibility to sit for a re-examination within the same examination period. The participation must have been a serious attempt. If you have handed in a blank assignment worksheet or if you have not tried to speak at an oral examination, it is the same as being absent and in this case it is not possible to be re-examinated within the same examination period.

If you have been prevented from participating in a regular course or project examination because of illness, it is possible to sit for a re-examination within the same examination period. Illness must be confirmed by a doctor's note. The doctor's note must be forwarded to the secretariat for university graduates 8 days after the first day of illness at the latest.

Re-examinations will take place in the period from Monday 17 February till Friday 21 February.

You must inform the secretariat for university graduates about your request for re-examination.

Student facilities

In connection with project work you are able to use the group study rooms and the other student facilities at ENSPAC.
