Machines and facilities
RUC Fablab runs a number of modern machines for digital production:
Laser cutters
Two IEHK 1200 Laser cutter/engravers, 100W power, rotary attachment. Working area 1200 x 900 mm. Accepts AI, BMP, PLT, DXF and DST formats. Can cut and engrave in paper, cardboard, plexiglass/acrylic, cloth, leather and some plastics.
3D printers
We currently have two 3D printers and a RepRap for experimenting on.
- PP3DP - Prints ABS plastic. Working area 140×140×135mm. Minimum wall thickness 1 mm
- Makerbot - Prints ABS plastic.
- Reprap - suitable for experimenting on. Prints PLA plastic.
CNC machines
CNC machines for lightweight materials
We have three CNC machines suitable for light materials such as plywood, wood, MDF, plastics, nylon, aluminium.
1 RaptorX-SL1200/S20 with 1200 x 2010mm working area. Normally mounted with a Kress 20.000 RPM spindle carrying a 3mm mill, can be equipped with 1-5 mm mills or a plasma cutter. Precision at least 0.1 mm.
2 High-Z S-1000 CNC Routers with 1000 x 600 x 110 mm working area. Normally equipped with a Kress 20.000 RPM spindle carrying a 3mm mill, can be equipped with 1-5 mm mills. Precision at least 0.1 mm.
CNC machines for hard materials/high precision
EMCO Concept Mill 105, working area 120x120x120mm, 8 tool toolchanger, precision down to about 0.05 mm
Very large CNC machines
Additionally, we have access to an extra large CNC mill with a working area of at least 1500x3000 mm, built by DZL, Nicolas and former HUMTEK students, located at illutron but portable. Precision about 1 mm.
Electronics workshop
We have an extensive electronics workshop, including solering stations, ventilation, test instruments, a considerable library of components, printed circuit board manufacturing by etching or isolation routing.
Sewing workshop
Two sewing machines, overlocker, large working table and access to laser cutter.
Wood workshop
Including normal hand tools and CNC mills.
Metal workshop
Including lathe, MIG/MAG and TIG welding.
