Our paper addresses the problem of the physical surroundings and appearance of a socially deprived area. We have chosen Tåstrupgård in Taastrup, as our case, in which we will improve the environment by creating opportunities for aesthetic experiences. Socially deprived environments are often worn down and radiate negative values. Our purpose is to alter the environment by improving the general aesthetic properties and values in Tåstrupgård.

Unipolar depression is estimated by WHO to become the largest burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries in 2030. This project assumes there is a need for alternative solutions for the treatment of patients with mental disorders in the Republic of Burundi. We examine the barriers and opportunities that exist in the use of different modalities, using telepsychiatry in a country like Burundi. To overcome the methodological issue - distance from the field- it is investigated and concluded that the interconnection of the first-person perspective as a design theoretical approach, and scenarios as a design method can be used. Furthermore there are fundamental differences in opportunities and barriers arising from the use of different modalities, i.e. whether there is a synchronous or asynchronous communication.
This project is about the elderly and a political strategy to fully digitize the public service system by 2015. We specify what an elderly person is in Denmark and how the digital strategy of the public service system will effect them. Our basic empiric data is based on interviews and observations and will be analyzed with three different theoretical perspectives. We use some of Pierre Bourdieu, Anthony Giddens and Frank W. Geels theories as our strategy of analysis ... We can the conclude that the digital strategy of the public service system will only effect the elderly if they do not know how to use a computer by 2015. Even by 2015 some citizens will be able to contact the public service system in a face-to-face situation but that is to be specified by what the local politicians decide as course of action.
In this paper we analyze how great an impact aesthetic appreciation and functional beauty have in everyday life, as we often perceive a distinction between function and the aesthetic aspects of an industrial product. This assignment will therefore contain an exposition of two subjects; aesthetic properties and functional beauty. We will first categorize functional beauty as an aesthetic quality and then focus on the aesthetic experience of an everyday artifact. We will use theories in our research from philosophers such as Beardsley and Dewey, among others ...We will – in light of this theory - redesign the insulin pen, as well as the equipment used by diabetics for their daily treatment. Our purpose is to give the insulin pen a new identity so it no longer resembles a ballpoint pen.
This project is a theoretical presentation, of how the subject is affected in the urban space of the city. This project takes upon a wide perspective, of how different elements create the modern city. Subsequent the field of research narrows down and focus on the subjects encounter with the materiality of the city. Through expositions and analyses of; David Cooper, Kristine Samson, Zygmunt Bauman, Dag Østerberg and Kristoffer Lindhart Weiss the relationships and conflicts that arise between the subject and the urban space are discussed.
The project is focusing on persuasive technology and how small issues conflicts in Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup. With acceptance from Copenhagen Airport we are trying to show some interesting design issues between humans and design, and how it effect nuanced human flow.
In this project, our primary work is based on filterbubbles as a phenomenon. We discuss and challenge Eli Parisers one-sided presentation of personalized search results, including which role this has for search of information. We vary the analysis and discussion, by including Lars Qvortrups theory about ‘Det hyperkomplekse samfund’, and with caseanalysis of Google and Stumbleupon as services to find information....

This project is a study of how it is possible to change one of the city’s vacuum to an urban space. By working with a case on Østbanegade, we show how a temporary design-related intervention can alter the users’ perception of the place, and thereby change the identity of the place. With Edward Relph’s theory of Place and Placelessness and empirical data in the form of interviews and observations, we discover how users relate to the case. We use theories of Jan Gehl and Olafur Eliasson to design a temporary urban space that centers around people and their perception of the surroundings...
The following paper deals with the phenomenon of ”planned obsolescence” and particularly the appertaining paradox concerning the desire to create economic growth as opposed to the sustaining of a healthy and sound environment. With a sustained environment as a point of departure, the emphasis of this paper will in particular be focused on the resource –and waste disposal problems derived from the effects of planned obsolescence. We will furthermore seek to investigate and clarify whether the approach known as the “Cradle to Cradle Strategy” can assist and help overcome the profound set of problems associated with planned obsolescence...
In modern times recycling has become a hot topic in the western hemisphere. We live in a time with an ever increasing focus on sustainability, climate changes and the well being of our planet is taking priority and an unavoidable influence in our daily lives. The project strives to increase the awareness of an exchange centre situated inside a local recycling depot on Vermlandsgade in Copenhagen. Through the heightened awareness we hope to increase the flow of re-usable items passing through the exchange centre. The increased flow of items ought to lengthen the lifespan of daily life items and decrease the amount of waste ending up in the nearby recycling depot...
Over 70 % of all suicides in Denmark are committed by men. In 65 % of the cases the person had a depression. Men aged 20-39 years commit most suicide attempts – among men. Therefore I have seen this audience as a risk group, which should be prevented from committing suicide. This paper therefore examines how you can get the young depressive men to the doctor in time using an information campaign...
