Learning theory seminar: How to make better mistakes
Using learning theory to improve reflective teaching practice
This seminar in applied learning theory will focus on how our, often unspoken, theories about learning influence our teaching practices. A special emphasis will be on challenging the “espoused theories of practice” (Donald Schön – the Reflective practitioner) and learning theories linked to the Roskilde interpretation of problem oriented project work.
Participants will be expected to prepare for the seminar and bring their experiences of project supervision and teaching experience to the table.
As the title indicates … the onus will be on the learning potential for the teacher in different teaching situations and seeing the fun, downsides and of course the ambition in maintaining a risk willing approach to teaching.
We will also focus on the importance of paying attention to learning cultures; generic skills and the importance of context.
The format of the seminar will be a study group / workshop with short presentations followed by debate and discussion.
Participation in the seminar is based on the assumption that you have read the texts before attending.
The texts will be sent to the participants in good time before the seminar.
