Portfolio
From the very start in 1972, Roskilde University has organised education around the principles of problem oriented project work and innovative teaching strategies. The augmented political focus on teaching quality in higher education poses demands on not only the higher education institutions but also the teaching staff. The teaching portfolio is a tool used to train the teachers in reflective practice; it documents teaching competences and it improves the teaching experience. As such, the teaching portfolio both documents the process of training to be a qualified university teacher and helps improve career progression.
The teaching portfolio
The adjunct education programme at RUC is spread over a three year period. The adjunct produces a Teaching Portfolio (TP) illustrating how the he or she has qualified in higher education teaching and learning during the three years. The TP must demonstrate proficiency in teaching and learning theories as well as document proficiency in developing, implementing and evaluating teaching strategies in practice.
